This book is a memoir about a boy name Johnny that his father wrote. Johnny was 17 when he passed away, he died from a brain tumor. His dad writes/talks about what Johnny like when he was younger, he described what he looked like and , also what kind of person he was. Johnny’s father described him as tall,skinny, very blond hair, blue eyes and , that he was very selfless and put/thought of others before himself. His father also talked about what his interest were as he was growing up such as chess and weather for casting. But later on his father talks more about other aspects of his personality. Johnny was apparently also sensitive, shy. One night frances took him to the public dinner given by the City of New York to Winston Churchill. It was the first and last Johnny ever wore a dinner jacket borrowed from his uncle. One day Johnny’s father thought that Johnny had looked tired but his dad did not take it seriously. He had his usual check up with their family physician who pronounced him fine. , He also had a check up with an eye doctor this was important, Johnny had suffered from my eye strain the summer before but the doctor found nothing wrong they even said his eyes have improved. But the day after his examination Johnny complain of a slight stiff neck. His father said if this would have happened before he saw the physician he would have took it more seriously but the doctor said he was totally fine so they paid no attention. Johnny had returned back to school. In the third week of april Johnny’s father got a call from the school doctor saying that Johnny was in the infirmary but, though he had a stiff neck, there was no indication of polio and not to worry.
