To some, the war between Mexico and America (also known as the Mexican-American war in America, and The American invasion in Mexico,) was a war based on lies sustained by the nefarious intent of President Polk, but to others a declaration of liberty and a demonstration of American power. The Mexican-American war was a war between America and Mexico due to Texas yearning to be annexed into America, America and Mexico then went on to fight over Texas. In the end America won the war and took Texas along with an expansive amount of Mexican land called the Mexican cession due to the treaty of Guadalupe. In a letter written by a Tejano man named Rafael Antonio Manchola, or document B it states in clear text “They refuse to follow our laws, unless it is convenient for them”. After this demonstration of disrespect it clearly proves that it wasn’t Mexico’s fault that they acted against the Texans. The Texans refused to follow the rules they promised Mexico they would follow. In America, lawbreakers are sent to prison and punished, so what’s the difference with Mexico? That’s not all; in the Texas Declaration of independence or document A the Texans declared “government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty, and property of the people.” Some might say that Mexico didn’t enforce its laws, but also conveniently forgetting Mexico punishes those not following them. To repeat they agreed to the rules then complained about them. What is Mexico to do in this situation, there wasn’t anything to do, the Texans backed the Mexicans up against a wall with the only way out, to go through the Texans which included America after they declared war. This failure and utter embarrassment to Americans everywhere was due to the Texans disagreeing with Mexico’s laws. After all of that shouldn’t the war just be declared unlawful and
