In the 1800’s God was the basis of all science, rarely did scientists go against the churches view. In 1859, a man named Charles Darwin published his book-origin of the species- that went against everything the church believed; Charles Darwin presented his theory of evolution. Evolution has many misconceptions such as: explaining what evolution is and how evolution works, what scientist believe today and how evolution is used in today’s medical field.
First, most people believe that evolution is the accusation people came from monkeys, however that is just an example of evolution. “Darwin’s general theory presumes the development of life from non-life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) ‘descent with modification’” (“Darwin’s Theory…” np). In other words all organisms started very simple and became complex organisms- like we are today- over time. For example, humans are getting taller and live longer than people did in the 1800’s; this is descent with modification modern people’s genes have descended to have the trait to be taller and live longer. “Biological evolution refers to the cumulative

This theory is also known as gradualism. This theory explains why children look like their parents. A further explanation is that descent with modification is the belief that species slowly change. Also, these changes are not just physical “Thus there are different levels at which changes are taking place, the gene level, the individual level, and the population level” (Klappenbach np). All changes must occur first on the genetic level before there can be any difference seen on the physical level. Since genetics determine looks the genetic code must change in order to modify the appearance of
