There are many stories in the world. “The Monkey’s Paw” and “The Third Wish” are two of them. “The Monkey’s Paw” could be described as a suspenseful story. “The Third Wish” could be described as a happy and sad story. Even though they both have different moods, they both can teach us the same lesson. These two stories are different from each other. In “The Monkey’s Paw” the main character is Mr. White. Mr. White’s first wish was for 200 pounds, so he got his 200 pounds but from the insurance from the death of his son. Mr. White’s second wish was for his son to be back alive, but he realized it might bring evil. So for his third wish, right when his wife was going to open the door to his son knocking on the door, he wished his son would be dead again back to the grave. This was a scary story. In contrast to “The Monkey’s Paw”, “The Third Wish” was happy and sad. The main character in “The Third Wish” was Mr. Peters. Mr. Peters’s first wish was for a wife as beautiful as the forest, but her wife turned out to be that she used to be a swan and now she is sad and misses her old life back as a swan. So Mr. Peters’s second wish was for his wife to be a swan again because he can’t stand watching her being sad. The problem is that now he is alone again. “The Monkey’s Paw” would be like a suspenseful story because of the events that happened in it. For example when the monkey’s paw would move on its own when Mr. White would make a wish, or when Mr. White’s son dies in a machine, or even when Mr. White and his wife herd strange knocks on the door thinking that it was their son that came back alive. “The Third Wish” also had a unique style. This story would be more like a sad and happy story because of what happened during the story. For example when Mr. Peters’s wife is sad that she isn’t a swan anymore or when Mr. Peters dies happy with a
