Traits explain a person and their personalities. Everyone has traits, especially characters in novels and stories that's the whole point of a book. In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” a character named General Zaroff, wants to play a hunting game with Rainsford. He has multiple characteristics and traits, including cunning, violent, and arrogant. In the story Zaroff is known as cunning. Cunning is someone getting what is wanted in a clever and deceptive way. The quote, “My dear fellow, there is one that can.”(25) is when Rainsford realizes that Zaroff hunts people for entertainment. When Rainsford was in the room, he tried to open the window, but, couldn’t because they sealed it shut (24). This is cunning because Zaroff knew that he would try to escape, but he thought about it faster than Rainsford did. General Zaroff was a very arrogant man because, he said, “I refuse to believe that so modern and civilized a young man as you seem to be harbors romantic ideas about the value of human life.” (25) He doesn't care about human life so, that makes him arrogant. “I'll wager you'll forget your notion when you go hunting with me.” (26) The quote tells us that Zaroff thinks he will win the hunt and rain storm will lose. Both of these quotes show that he is arrogant. The character, General Zaroff, has three main character traits cunning, violent, and arrogant. Why does it matter? Well, because the traits tell you that he is not humane by hunting animals and especially murdering humans, the story shows that he isn’t humane from paragraph three in this essay. If Zaroff didn’t have any of these traits then the story would be totally different. The character should tell us that hunting animals for sport and entertainment is wrong and
