The Most Dangerous Game
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, a sports hunter named Rainsford, faces a life threatening conflict after he falls of a cruise and swims to an unknown island. He then comes across a mansion and his life is then altered when he meets General Zaroff. The general and Rainsford are off to good terms when they first meet, but they then start to butt heads when they don’t see eye to eye on hunting.
The hunters in this story are General Zaroff , who hunts humans for his game. Plus Ivan, who is the general’s assistant and helps General Zaroff in his schemes. Another hunter in this story is Rainsford, who is a wide known famous animal hunter. The last hunter who is in the story is Whitney, and she is also a hunter but thinks of the animals. As Rainsford says “ Luckily you and I are hunters.” (pg. 216)

Then General Zaroff states “You’ll find the game worth playing.” (pg.229) He tells Rainsford that he has to stay alive for more than 3 days without being captured by him, and if he does make it out alive, he will let him go, but he can never speak of this island and what he does. Rainsford doesn’t agree to this so General Zaroff tells him good luck and that this will probably end up bad for him. But all tables are turned when Rainsford ends up making it out alive and fights General Zaroff, to see who will be the winning
