The movie Crash is an example of how racism, discrimination, and stereotypes are conducted in society. The movie is in Los Angeles, a city known for its racial diversity. It represents how white, black, hispanic, indian, and asian people are affected by these prejudices and how they affect others by using these prejudices. The movie does a good job on displaying normal life scenarios in which minorities feel discriminated and in which majorities feel intimidated. This movie represented how minorities feel treated less and how majorities feel the need to act different around minorities. Racism is the belief that not all races are equal and that one race is superior to the others. A racist is someone that identifies themselves as a person that hates other race. Sadly, in today’s world, racism is still a social issue. Stereotyping is when people categorize others into certain groups according to what they assume of them. Prejudiced people feel a negative cognition against certain groups, which makes them act different towards them. Racism is not only making assumptions or acting different towards certain groups, but it is treating others in a different way based on the stereotypes and the prejudices that they make about them. Racists discriminate against other races and they believe that their own race is better. In the movie, racism was demonstrated by certain characters. For example, when the Persian father and his daughter went to buy a gun for protection, the white seller insulted him by calling him “Osama” because he and his daughter were speaking in their language while discussing their purchase. The white man refused to sell him the gun. The seller was racist in the way that he disenfranchised the Persian father of his right as an American citizen to buy a gun. As shown, the seller did not gave this customers equal treatment because of their race, and he insulted him without knowing him, which shows that he was
