Prep Writing 2 Business makes the world go round A wise man once said, “You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure.” In my opinion that statement makes great sense. Mixing business with pleasure usually ends up in failure. Have you ever thought about how the world would run if there were no businesses? America is built on capitalism and interacts with other countries is through economic relationships. As a nation it has perfected a balance between free markets and governmental regulation. The business model has evolved in America and has opened up the genies lamp for ingenuity and creativity that inspired and changed the lives of every human being on the planet. Through business relationships countries are linked with other countries. For example Saudi Arabia and America have vested interests in one another. America goes to Saudi Arabia for oil, therefore if Saudi Arabia were to be invaded it would affect America and we’d probably end up stepping in to help our ally. Countries that are connected or linked together economically must constantly be in communication with one another. Communication is key to a countries success. A thriving nation such as America maintains communication with all of its trading partners. In some instances when there are disagreements in the trading relationships with our partner nations there arises what is known as a trade dispute or in strongly contested disagreements we describe them as trade wars. When such events occur the nations rely on the governments to step in and use diplomatic practices to negotiate and resolve the matters. America has a constitution that appoints the government to regulate commerce for both the states within the nation and for dealing with international commerce. The government is tasked to level the playing field as best as possible in order to keep free and fair trade agreements possible. When other nation's actions step across the lines of fair trade and make products and services available in American markets that are make competition unfair in their favor, the government levies trade tariffs on the imports to American markets. This is how business is conducted among international partners. Now think about this, what would happen if business just suddenly came to a halt throughout the world? Do you think the world would be able to function anymore? Planet Earth would regress back to the Stone Age. Almost every other country relies on another country for its imports and exports. No single country can claim economic independence as the world through the technological advances in communication have made us all interdependent in some form or another. It may be stated that America itself is in a great jeopardy due to it being the largest import nation on the globe.
