Aristotle once said, “ Hope is a waking dream” this quote is significant because it is implying to never lose hope, and to have faith in the world. President Roosevelt was the face of hope for millions of Americans torn apart by the Great Depression. He created the New Deal in 1933 in an attempt to fulfill hearts and mend peoples broken dreams. The New Deal created programs, and worked to create stability in the economy, as well as increase the value of life for citizens immensely.

The New Deal worked diligently in order to be able to do this quickly and sufficiently. The New Deal reimbursed money, which made the circulation of money where it had been previous to the Great Depression. Without the jobs provided by the New Deal, America would not be the powerhouse of industry and at the level of modern technology that modern day America is. In document E, unemployment statistics, it is highly noticeable that unemployment rates rose greatly during the Great Depression, the peak being in the year 1932 with a 22.3% unemployment rate. Without the New Deal however, the problems of the Great Depression would have had a longer, more damaging impact on society and the economy as a whole. In document B, “African Americans and the New Deal” , it states “ Most New Deal programs discriminated against blacks.” Discriminating is never morally right or justified, however, the good of the New Deal outweighs this negative. Through stabilizing the economy and getting people back into the workforce it benefited America as a whole. Blacks due to the start up of the economy again were able to become integrated in following years, and able to get jobs and fair treatment. Without the New Deal America would have continued to be in the Great Depression and racism would have been increased, and black labor could cycle through again. Overall the New Deal did create an unfair advantage for blacks, and it took them time to gain equality which is the biggest downfall, but it would have taken even longer for racism to cease without the New Deal and all races and people would be in a terrible place on the onset of another great
