Even pre-dating the civil war there has always been a competition putting the South vs. the North. There was the civil war of course where the North won but that’s not what I am writing about today; over time, historically, we have seen rises in the population of the south and declines in the north. This has led to a more diverse and spread out culture in the south, which has led to job growth amongst other things. Historically the north may have won the civil war; but in this day and age, the south finally wins. Let’s start with something obvious, the weather! The south has around eight months of sunshine in comparison to around four in the north. The eight months of summer in the south allows for a lot more outdoor activities at the very least, there is sand volleyball, water volleyball, swimming, and water polo to name a few. While in the north you are subjugated to being stuck inside trying to find ways to entertain yourself which usually involves T.V. The cold weather is even better in the south, what I mean by this is when it snows in the south everyone does their best to go outside and enjoy it. They will find every reason to go sledding have a snowball fight, this is because with only a month at best of snow you want to take advantage of it. It might snow a couple days but when the snow is gone you will start to miss it. In the north on the other hand it snows for months and people are doing their best to avoid it because it has become a nuisance to them. The snow will keep them from their jobs and from just doing daily activities like getting groceries. There is always of course the large increase in accidents because of the weather as well that keeps them in. The weather can get pretty cold in the south don’t get me wrong but only have to deal with it for four months makes it much more manageable than the North’s weather. How about the salt they have to use almost every day in the north, this salt is the cause of heavy rust damage to cars not to mention ruins anything nice you own footwear wise. The bottoms of your cars start to rust off and destroy the vehicles integrity much quicker than in the south. The south uses salt maybe three times a year and in those instances they can usually just use sand to save the cars and the city money. You can surmise from this the obvious reason the south wins in the weather category. Now how about we talk about the warmer weather in the south shall we? It is sunny and nice somewhere around eight months a year which most people are in favor of, that is unless you’re an Inuit. The warmer weather makes it much easier and cheaper to exercise and play a wider variety of sports for much more time. The ability to go out running in the nicer weather makes people not only want to exercise more but keeps their money in their pocket instead of the gyms. These sports can range anywhere from sand volleyball to horse shoes, these are all games you just don’t play in the winter. While in the north you are stuck inside playing less productive things like beer pong and cards. In the north we are forced to invest large amounts of money for things like the gym and tanning when in the south it is free courtesy of Mother Nature. The sun and the warmth it creates allows people to go outside more this intern allows us to get the much needed vitamin D in our daily diets which leads to happier people overall. This may not sound overly important to some but any doctor will tell you that the vast majority of people do not get as much vitamin D as they should and the only way to get it is being outside in the sun. The sun makes happier people so you can see why my next subject is so easy to talk about when comparing south vs. the north. The friendlier people in south, let me start this off with a story of when I first moved up north with my soon to be wife at the time. We stopped at a gas station just after entering Michigan, I started pumping the gas and she went in to get drinks. I look over and a
