Greasers and Socs, two very different groups of people. One was rich and spoiled with fancy cars and other riches, yet the other suffered to stay alive from their conditions. Amazingly, S.E. Hinton brought these two groups to life in vivid images. The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton made a very dramatic impact on the lives of others, including our class. This once an English paper made a fantastic book where the author actually lived these moments. In fact, it became so popular that a movie was decided to be made on the story. Even the author was included in one of the scenes. The Outsiders is about a boy named Ponyboy Curtis who writes about his life as a Greaser, with tears shed and happy moments. Yet what he learned about the Socs changed his perspective on everyone, and even changed his life. The book has a great impact on anybody, yet the movie has some scenes in which it twists some of the plot. Although the movie and book are very similar, the film changes up some of the scenes. Ponyboy Curtis was an average Greaser trying to live his life with the Socs teasing them. The book starts out with Pony walking out of the movie theatre, without any of his friends. Both in the film and the writing, Johnny and Pony upsettingly ran towards the park to clear their minds, getting in a fight with the Socs, killings and deaths. The book and the movie also had differences, like Darry shoving Pony instead of slapping him. Or that Pony didn’t go to court at the end of the movie and Pony did in the book. Both have many similarities and differences.
