Do you ever think about how different social groups are the same and different? The outsiders is based on two social groups the Socs also known as the high class rich kids and the Greasers the low class poor kids. This paper is going to be comparing the similarities and differences and the good and the bad between both of them.

The similarities between the Socs and the Greasers. One similarity is they are both trapped in these two social classes and both don’t really look outside of their social group. Also on the inside they are all good people they just don’t portray it because they don’t want to be discriminated or beaten up, in other words they both have this need to live up to their image. They are preseaved by the public differently if the Socs jump the hoods they won't get into trouble and if they do it's not very much, but if the Greasers jump the Socs they could go to jail and or go to a boys home. Both the groups have pride in who they are and what group they are in at least that's what they show. “That's why people don't ever think to blame the Socs and are always ready to jump on us. We look hoody and they look decent. It could be just the other way around” (pg. 142) the quote is just showing that the greasers they look different from the high class society so people think of them differently.

They are both good and they are both bad. Socs are good just not directly. Cherry was a good Socs she didn't seem to think much about the social groups and felt that in way they were same and had the same issues “Things are rough all over” (pg. 35). The Greasers are good because even though they are dirty and steal they are still good people like when Johnny and Ponyboy saved all the little kids. The socs are bad because they jump people. The Greasers are bad because they steal and commit crimes.

In conclusion the greasers and the Socs are bad, good, similar and different. In all the ways social groups are different they are the same
