If you don’t learn history, then history repeats itself. Today famous directors recreate events so that we learn about the events as if we were there. In the movie, The Patriot, The American Revolution is recreated accurately militarily, economically, and socially. However is inaccurate politically. It has a great re-enactment of colonial life as the new world was striving to be independent.The movie, “The Patriot” directed by Roland Emmerich is an accurate portrayal of America during the Revolution.
The Battle of Camden is accurate re-enacted along with the battle of Yorktown. At the battle of Camden, the British brutally killed many patriots, and won.” After the disastrous loss at Camden, Gates was removed from command and replaced by Nathanael Greene” (http://www.history.com/topics/american-revolution/battle-of-camden)In the movie Benjamin Martin was watching the Battle of Camden and says,” Gates is a damn fool, spent too many years in the British army. Even though the character is not based completely off of people from this exact time, they are based on some of the most important people such as Thomas Sumter who Fort Sumter is named after in the Civil War. Benjamin did play important roles in the community. Many men would have had to play the roles in the colonial time anyway. “Martin's hit and run tactics and nickname 'The Ghost' were inspired by Francis Marion, while the tactics of using the militia on the front to draw the British in the final battle were based on similar tactics used by Daniel Morgan at the Battle of Cowpens.”
