The Patriot directed by Roland Emmerich, is a riveting film that elegantly portrays the American Revolution. The Patriot unyieldingly and historically characterizes the Martin family's life during this chaotic time. For example, Benjamin Martin, a farm owner, who was haunted by his notoriously brutal past as a soldier in the French and Indian War. When the American Revolution came and knocked down his door, he choose not to fight for the Army because he wants to care for his family. Although, when Colonel Tavington threatened him and killed one of his children, he choose to create the militia and fight back. Benjamin was a true father figure and his children mourned to see him go to war. Another example of a character I liked was Thomas Martin, the second oldest son out of the seven children. I liked Occam the slave because he …show more content…
This movie was amusing, disturbing, action packed, emotional and inspiring. The Patriot was historically accurate and it portrayed not only the battles but also the lives of the many people in it. The main lesson or message of this film is that during a mournful time, keep moving forward. That in a time of death the worst thing to do is to ponder on the past because the past is the past and the present affects the future. Also that in the heat of the moment, to leave behind all inanimate objects because your life is more important. Finally, is my recommendation to others. The Patriot is an amazing movie and was made for a mature audience. The audience must be ready for the gore and language but they also must know about the content that the director is trying to portray. Therefore, I would recommend this movie to all teenagers 13 and older because I personally thought that it was appropriate for our age group and because it fit our
