For the second outside reading project I chose The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. The book is about the young child Milo and his adventures through many lands such as Digitopolis and the Island of Conclusions. As he finds his way through these mysterious and clever lands he meets many companions such as Tock the watchdog and Humbug the humbug. Milo eventually gains the quest of rescuing the Princesses Rhyme and Reason.
The author’s purpose was to entertain. Mr. Juster used many ironic and clever wordplays to make sure that the entire story is enjoyable and imaginative.
