The pharmaceutical industry develops, produces, and markets drugs or pharmaceuticals licensed for use as medications (Wiley-VCH, 1999-2014). These medications are supplied to the health care industry to treat and prevent diseases. The strategy for communication will acknowledge the importance of the Pharmaceutical industry and in particular that of Get Well Drugs. Communication should begin with an official letter to Get Well Drugs requesting a face to face meeting with their representatives. The letter will highlight the drugs in question, identification of the ailments, diseases or conditions that the anticipated drugs will be effective against. The specific users of the drugs which will include physicians, pharmacists as well as nurses will be identified as well. The letter will also mention any apparent and significant issues regarding drug use and their effects as well as the cost of its purchase from Get Well Drugs. In addition, Well Being Hospitals will seek to find out the distribution channels utilized by Get Well Drugs so as to find out the most economically viable options available when purchasing and reordering drugs from Get Well Drugs. The use of cost-effective distribution channels and the limits to the number of distributors will secure lower prices (Miller, 2013). Get Well Drugs will be asked to provide details of the clinical trials of the anticipated drugs so we can establish their levels of effectiveness, safety and efficacy. Get Well Drugs as a manufacturer of the drugs will need to confirm that their products are safe for patients to use. Get Well Drugs should also be asked to provide, for each drug desired by Well Being Hospital, the specific manufacturing facilities and procedures. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations require that drug manufacturers are in compliance with its Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations which contain minimum requirements for the methods, facilities, and controls used in manufacturing, processing, and packing of a drug product (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2012). Information regarding specific manufacturing facilities and procedures will help Well Being Hospital establish that the drug is safe for use, and that it has the ingredients and strength it claims to have. Get Well Drugs will be asked to disclose, if any, issues that may arise or be highlighted in any of the FDA publications, whether positive or negative, that may apply to one or more of the drugs intended for purchase by Well Being Hospital. This kind of information is relevant to Well Being Hospital as it discloses the function of the drug with reference to the general population and any severe effects of the drug not experienced during the clinical trials are revealed in this publication.
To gain physician involvement in hospital quality improvement, it will be important to have clear communications and effective messaging. In this case, the nurses and physicians at Well Being Hospital will be the prescriber of these drugs and therefore, the information to be provided to the consortium of nurses and physicians should be specific to each drug in terms of cost of administration in terms of the purchase price proposed sale price at the hospital, as well as specific drug information in terms of safety, ingredients and strength. During this process, Each drug will be identified an analyzed and the nurses and physicians will have the opportunity to submit their opinions on the effectiveness of the proposed drugs as compared to those currently in use.
