In the book The Pig and the Skyscraper the author Marco d’Eramo claims that Chicago is full of inequality and forms of capitalism. In the chapter “Arrival in Chicagoland” d’Eramo explains why Chicago is nicknamed the windy city, because of Lake Michigan being near it. He also writes about the extreme weather changes like winters being even more cold because of Lake Michigan's presence and the harsh winds. As opposed to the summers which are very hot were the people will go to Lake Michigan to cool off, but they also cause terrors to certain residents.
