Throughout Othello women have struggled for equality and fairness and were only met with opposition from the male community. Shakespeare’s portrayal of the venetian society accurately represented the challenges females faced on a daily basis. As the women began to make progress and reject the stereotypes forced upon them by the predominantly male dominated society of the time, the male community began to feel threatened by the shift in control.
