I must say that during this class I have had the opportunity to learn the real job of our HR team. I never really knew the extent of their job, but I always knew that it require them to do a lot of paperwork and select applicants with the qualifications they are looking for. Learning that the management team also plays a part in the job of HR, allowed me to see the picture as a whole. Selection can be defined as process of choosing the right person for the right job. Selecting the right employees is one of the most crucial HR processes, but it is also one of the most challenging decision-making processes in an organization. An effective selection process should help the organization choose from a group of applicants: those who fit certain jobs and also fit the organizational culture. The Benefit and Compensation package is sometimes one of the main reasons that many people usually take a job. Benefit is defined as Compensation apart from wages and salaries, often provided by employers to employees over and above their normal wages and salaries. I learned that some companies may offer attractive compensation packages in order to motivate their employees. I worked at a company that offered a quarterly bonus, days off, raises, and different projects that you could do instead of being on the phone during your shift. I must say that I enjoyed those perks and that alone made me want to keep my job performance on the up and up. Of course there are some companies that may have the ability to offer “Fringe Benefits”, now fringe benefits can be defined as compensation that is not a wage or salary and goes beyond either form of compensation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) provide detailed guidelines for analyzing those hazards. Some of the
