In the movie The Princess Bride the hero’s journey is depicted through more than one character portrayed within a children's book. Some may argue that Inigo Montoya was also on his own form of hero’s journey, but the main one was the “farm boy’s” journey. In this essay I will analyse the different sections in the movie that show how the hero's journey concept is carried out. The different sections may not be in the lining of what a hero's journey should be like, but are incorporated without being coherent. For the world of common day the hero is just a commoner not really someone of high ranking the ‘farm boy” still Buttercup loves him. He leaves to seek his fortune in order to marry princess Buttercup and start his life with her. That later trails on to the call to adventure in the movie it is when Westley(farm boy) sees princess Buttercup and tries to save her from being killed by the three villains lead by Vizzini. During the movie there were many moments when the call to adventure was presented however Westley’s quest solely relied on saving the Princess. The refusal of the call was Westley thinking that Buttercup was indeed in love with Prince Humperdinck and had forgotten about him after all those years.
Although meeting with the mentor for Westley happened through an odd twist, by Inigo Montoya this happened later on in the movie when he helps him rescue

It included even the final steps of the “hero's journey” by creating a sense of resurrection and freedom to live aspect in the ending. It was shown by the end scene within the book Buttercup and Westley's kiss and the future that they now have. It was also shown in Montoya's form by his having a new outlook on life and what he should now focus on which is the role of the Dread Pirate
