Many people in Utah these days are arguing about the policies of abortion. Everyone has their own different opinions. There are two sides of the argument. One being that abortion should not be done at all, but if it has to then it should regulated and have rules and boundaries. The other side argues that abortion is a choice and people should be able to choose when, how, and why they want to get an abortion. They argue that it is entirely their decision. I am writing this letter because I am curious about the opinions of different people and what policies there are that are centered around abortion. Protesters speak out saying that abortion should be banned except in rape, incest, and health problems of the pregnant woman. Some people are fighting against the idea of banning abortion, saying that it is the mother’s choice and right. About 60% of people in Utah are all for banning abortions and the other 40% are against it (“Utah considers abortion ban”). In April of this year signed its first anti-abortion bill. It requires doctors to give anesthesia to any pregnant woman over 20 weeks seeking an abortion. Many people say that this will make it safer but others argue that it doesn’t. Utah’s Governor signed 3 day waiting period bill for abortion.The state currently has a 24 hour waiting period, people are wanting to increase that to 72 hours before a woman can get an abortion. People argue with this but others say what is the big deal about having to wait longer to abort a baby ("Utah gov signs law mandating 3-day wait for abortion.").
