Imagine living in a world that doesn’t want you around. A lot of people view pit bulls as a threat and those people want them gone. There’s over 700 U.S cities that have banned pit bulls. And, there’s a total of 12 states as of 2014 that have banned them (“What States Have Banned Pit Bulls?”). But if they’re just dogs, why do people want them banned?

Pit bulls are loving and brave just like every other dog usually is. Back in the 80’s and 90’s, pit bulls were commonly used to be a kids nanny only by protecting them if the family owned one (“How Did Pit Bulls Get Such A Bad Rap?”). They would attack anyone that entered their house that might seem to be a threat. Not to mention, pit bulls don’t only protect their owners, they also helped protect their own troops in World War 1. For example, a pit bull named “Sergeant Stubby” worked with his troop and would warn them about incoming attacks (“Proud Pit Bull History”). Clearly pit bulls played a big number in the 20th century.

Unneutered pit bulls usually have a bad track record compared to neutered pit bulls. According to the American Humane Society, 86% of fatal attacks involve an unneutered male.
