Imagine living with the guilt of killing someone, just from looking at a phone while driving. Doesn’t it seem obvious to not look at a phone while driving? There are many people who believe so, but do not follow the rule. Distracted driving is a growing problem with the advantages of technology. There are many issues on how this needs to be dealt. Many believe educating the people will be the better choice, while others believe enforcing more laws are more effective. If people have more knowledge about distracted driving, it will keep them from looking at their phones and more likely to follow the laws.

One way this can be achieved is getting phone companies involved. To really give an impact on teenagers and adults, phone companies, such as Verizon, AT&T, and others, will have to be involved in the making of commercials or teachings (Griffith). Seeing phone companies against this issue, people will realize it needs to be stopped. One phone company has already become involved. AT&T is big in to distracted driving. In their It Can Wait campaign, they show many videos of people getting into accidents. Many people begin to realize that could be them. AT&T also goes around the country showing high school teenagers their distracted driving simulator. This simulator shows just how fast things can go wrong. After the showing of the simulator, “86% of participants said they would never text and drive.” (Wallace). Their campaign has really made an impact on both students and adults.
