The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Power

Words: 927
Pages: 4

Scientists have not yet discovered a new way to produce energy and nuclear power is one of the most preferred options currently. However there are many arguments for and against nuclear power. Many argue that nuclear power is great as it low operating costs and produces large amounts of energy. On the other hand, many disagree, they argue that finding a renewable power source is a better option

Question 6
Radioactive isotopes are chemically produced isotopes that are released by unstable elements. In order to become stable, these elements releases these radioactive isotopes until the stability needed is reached. There are three main types of radiation; Alpha, beta and gamma radiation. Radiation is used and required a lot in the medical industry.

It has many advantages and disadvantages:
The most complicated experimental facility and the most powerful particle collider in the world in called the Large Hadron Collider. The construction of the LHC began on the 10th of September, 2008 and it took so much work. For decades, thousands of scientists and engineers had to work together to complete the plan of the LHC. This complex machine is worth around four billion dollars.
The purpose of the LHC is to help physicists to research on areas like particle physics and many more. The main one being testing a Higgs Boson, super symmetric theories and more. Higgs Boson is a type of particle that provides mass to other particles. The LHC contains seven different kinds of detectors, each other designed for a different topic. In the LHC, the main operation method is the proton-proton collision. In general, the LHC assists physicists to find out if there’s any particles smaller than what we know

Nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction which occurs when two nuclei gets closer and closer to each other at fast speed until they join to form a new nucleus. An example of nuclear fusion would be the sun. All stars are caused by nuclear fusion, they make stars hot and bright and fuel them. The high temperature in stars allows the joining of nuclei. Nuclear fusion normally happens in fusion bombs and stars.
In this case, an example would be nuclear power stations. The fission of the nuclei of Uranium-235 is used to generate heat. Uranium is contained in the nuclear reactor which is located in the central of the nuclear power station. The nuclear power station is designed for nuclear fission to occur, followed by ongoing chain reactions. Control rods made of the metal cadmium is moved in and out. Each control rod absorbs neutrons causing less neutrons to be able to be splitting uranium nuclei. They are moved in and out to ensure that just the right amount of neutrons is available to keep the chain reaction going. uclear fission is the process in which a large nuclei splits and breaks into two smaller parts. The nuclei comes in contact with a neutron, which triggers it to break and split up. A large amount of energy is produced when this nuclear reaction
