Red Kangaroos are marsupials which means that their babies are not born completely developed and are carried in a pouch on the mom’s belly after they are born. Females are pregnant for about 21-38 days and can have up to four babies at a time. The babies (also called joeys) are about the size of a jelly bean at birth. They then move to the mom’s pouch where they continue to grow for another 120-450 days. Red Kangaroo’s breed throughout the year, but spring and summer are when they usually have their babies. The young baby will permanently leave the pouch after about 235 days.
