Everyone in this world is different. They were born different, they were raised differently, all of them have different points of views, and most importantly each person believes in something different. What is the meaning of being Gay? A person who says that they are LGBTs (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transsexual) are embracing who they truly want to be. LGBT or straight, everyone has the right to choose whomever they want to be with for the rest of their lives. More than twelve countries allow same-sex marriage. Most of which are countries are in Europe and the Americas. Why not more? When you think about it, there are so many different religions in the world that, a person has the ability to choose whichever they want. “Out of the many religions that there is only one allows gay marriage,” (Masci, 2015). There are about ten religions that prohibit same-sex marriage. Not being able to be in certain religions causes LGBTs to breakdown and sometimes become depressed with the fact that “they do not belong.” Although many religions do not allow it some people in the religion disagree with that particular topic and think that gay marriage is something that should be legalized. Julliane Love De Jesus said, “There should be a healthy respect towards the beliefs of others.” Her statement puts out that no one should judge others for what they believe in and for what they think is correct or not. In the past year NYC’s economy has gained over $260 million due to the legalization of same-sex marriage. More and more labor was produced by LGBTs because they got what they wanted and they were free to be happy. Equally as important, “Gay marriage strengthens national identity and international reputations to LGBTs. The fact that same-sex marriage is not legal in thirty-eight states of the U.S.A. and not recognized by the federal government has damaged America's international reputation in relation to LGBT rights,” Tamara Thompson says. She argues that, "Liberty and justice for all is a phrase often used in descriptions of the U.S.A. which seek to capture the nation's spirit and identity." It is time to stop judging others and to start embracing marriage equality. The society benefits from gay marriage because the wellbeing amongst LGBTs increases. Socially and physically, it helps with collaboration between all the different people in the world. When people are accepted into society they tend to feel more at ease and start to connect more with the world around them without having to worry about someone saying that they do not belong there.
