“The ethical point of view requires us to go beyond a personal point of view to the standpoint of an impartial spectator” (Singer 188). What Singer means by this is that we must see things through a neutral perspective. When looking at things through a moral standpoint, we are able to get past our own self-centered concerns and see ourselves through the most neutral view. This is what psychopaths, people who are asocial and impulsive, lack. They are unable to see neutral happiness and only acknowledge their own happiness, without any regards to anyone else (Singer 185). Another person who lacks this is the prudent egoist.
