For many years the economy has been changing around us. The safe and secure world that we once pursued has become an illusion. In 2011 a group of American citizens came together to tell their stories. The stories were about economic hardships, trying to understand big businesses, and the financial devastation of being terminated. The stories were told from their point of view. It was about how they dealt with the issues through their emotions, and families. The emotions were eye opening, catching a glimpse of their reality. Through these peoples stories and hardships there is a picture painted of what others may be going through in 2015.

The struggles they had gone through made me feel blessed. Realizing that many of these people had college degrees and were out of work had alarmed me. Education is always changing and in a few years what I’ve learned might not be relevant to my job. Just like two of the women in the movie Jenny, and Judy had worked for their newspaper company which went out of business because of the current use of technology for use. I was also shocked by Randy’s story a man who grew up in the small town of Dewitt. His whole family had worked for the Petersons family business including his mother, father, aunts, uncles, grandad and even his children. The business ended soon after a bigger business took over. He was fired belligerently and also heard about the many workers who tried to keep the business from going under. To me these people are nothing more than small town heroes trying to make a living the best they can. I found it fascinating that there were feelings of sadness, disgust, sickness, and depression. Utmost of the 20 individuals asked if they did something wrong to deserve being fired. They also talked about being thankful for what they do have and having to keep on rolling for their family’s
