The text I have chosen for this assignment is Micah 5:1–6 The first purpose of the book of Micah is to warn the people of Judah and Israel of impending judgment. This judgment was coming because of the injustice that was being done to the poor and the foreigner. It was also for the sins of the prophets who prophesied for profit and the judges who judged for bribes. The second purpose of the book was to tell them that their judgment would not last forever but that the Lord would not only restore them but make their status better. They would enjoy peace and prosperity and the presence of the Lord (chap 4). The remnant would become a nation again and the exiled people would be gathered back from captivity.
