The recognition of an educators own culture (or any culture that is different to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture) may impact a child in their care as they may not completely understand the contemporary impact that colonization has had on Australian Indigenous people. For example; the loss of their identity, the loss of family and kinship structures and the loss of their language.
