Everyday, over 55% of the U.S. population tunes in to their favorite news stations to get their daily news (Saad). But, a big question being asked in the news industry right now is who can we actually trust to give us our news every day? The news should be given in a neutral and straightforward tone, but unfortunately this is not the case when it comes to some big business news stations. Bias in the news and how the news is reported in a prejudice tone is a common phenomenon that happens throughout our society today. Being bias is the “Particular tendency, trend, inclination, feeling, or opinion, especially one that is preconceived or unreasoned” (Dictionary.com). Could the use of bias in the news by popular news companies be adding fuel to the fire of our already broken up society? …show more content…
There are two different types of groups that are mainly breaking our society apart. The first one is the conservative or republican side. This means to be “Disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change” (Dictionary.com). The second side on the opposite end of the spectrum is to be liberal or democratic. To be liberal is to be “Favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs” (Dictionary.com).
