In “Anthem” by Ayn Rand, the world is filled with a humdrum population lacking ambition and inspiration. Equality 7-2521, the narrator, sticks out physically and mentally. For this reason, leaders felt the need to eliminate him as a threat by putting him in a position where he could not accomplish much. However, Equality dreamt of being able to learn and did not care about the disruption he caused to get to that point.
