Life may not be as easy to navigate through for everyone. Some people struggle to get by and work through their own dilemmas, while some are able to stride happily through life with no worries. In Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, the main character Melinda struggled to find her voice and to tell someone about her being sexually assaulted. In the poem “The Rose That Grew From Concrete” by Tupac Shakur, the narrator of the story tells how they grew from nothing to someone by keeping their dreams and finding their voice, though no one cared for them. In both texts it tells readers that one of the most important things they can do when no one cares to listen or if no one is willing to, it’s best to find their voice.
In the two texts it shows readers that you have to speak up and find your voice.
In Speak, it hints at how Melinda needs to grow and speak for herself and to find her voice.
