The Significant Crab “There is nothing insignificant in the world. It all depends on the point of view”- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. There are many things we consider to be insignificant that are significant to others; it can be a small gift from a loved one or something he or she got from a vacation. I believe that it depends on the eye of the beholder for something to be distinguished as significant. The object that holds significance towards me would be a small gift that I received from my Grandma around a decade ago. This gift is a little wooden sculpture of a crab, and my grandma bought this while she was on vacation in New Orleans, Louisiana. The sculpture of a crab is around an inch in length and two inches in diameter. The sculpture of the crab is well crafted and well painted, the crab sculpture has many textures throughout the entirety of it, it closely resembles a real crab. The crab sculpture that I had received as a gift from my Grandma does not mean much to others but because the sculpture was given to me by a loved one makes it far more significant. Which I believe that it give it a greater significance it is not being received as a gift if my grandma had not given me the sculpture and I had to have bought it myself, I do not believe it would hold its significance for long periods of time rather than a gift would. What gives something its significance up to the beholder of the object. The crab sculpture is significant to be because it was a gift from my grandma that was something she did not have to do but did it because she thought that I would enjoy
