Purpose and Connection: To introduce students an author’s use of words and to analysis phrases and meaning in literary texts, poetry writing practice.
Instructional Objectives: At the end of this lesson students will be able to describe how an author uses descriptive words and phrases to create meaning of the text. discuss how descriptive, fancy words can be used in the text. create and write a poem or a story based on nonfiction text.

Materials:
Snow by Cynthia Rylant; construction paper, scissors.

PROCEDURE:
Motivation:
Ask students if they like a winter time, why are they happy or not when it snows? Ask them to describe everything that comes to their mind when they think about winter time or snow. This will motivate students to describe descriptive words. After discussion, show the picture of the snow day and ask to describe how will they spend a snow day. This practice will strengthen the meaning of the descriptive, fancy words. Answers will be written on the board. Ask specific questions such as:
What can build from the snow? We can build snowmen, make a snow fort, make snow angels.
What games can we play in winter? We can have a snowball fight, play in the snow, sledding.
What can we do at home at snowy day? We can drink hot cocoa, snoozing.

Demonstration:
I will have a few kinds of fruits. Then will take one and will ask students if we can define this fruit. Then will start modeling. I will think aloud about it and examine the object. I will ask myself
