Though, she is a woman, she is said to have lived as a man because she supported herself and did as she pleased. Certain expectations were set for females depending on the stereotypes society had given them. Now, more than ever stereotypes have become an issue in today’s society. Young women are deserting their perceived womanly duties of settling down, starting a family, and becoming a homemaker. Instead, young women are pursuing careers, socializing, earning, and having sex as they see fit. Whereas the women are more domesticate.Gender stereotypes create gender roles. Gender roles are a set of behaviors generally considered appropriate for someone based on their sex. The problem with gender roles is not everyone fits into them like they are expected to by society. There are many outliers who have no interest in many of the things people of their same sex do. There are many males who do not fall into the masculine role. Instead, they are better at being hairdressers, cooks, nurses. Should we as a society let perfectly good potential and skill go to waste because we are afraid to let a man have what we have defined as a feminine job? There are woman who would rather look under the hood of a car all day than stay at home and raise children. Not abiding by their gender roles should not make them any less of a woman.
