In the text, “I felt a funeral in my brain” and the text, “the tell tale heart” Poe and Dickinson develop the central idea of madness throughout the story and poem by creating narrators who are crazy and by using repetition and playing with the order of events. These two texts connect by, how madness is played throughout both texts.I felt a funeral in my brain shows madness by how the narrator is crazy in the head and feels dead inside their brain. In the tell tale heart madness is shown all over the story by, how the narrator want’s to kill an innocent old man for a vulture eye. These two texts connect with madness by how both narrators act insane in both texts. A piece of evidence from “The Tell-Tale Heart” is, “I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever(P2)”.This means that Poe makes the narrator pretty much “calm and deadly” but want’s to get rid of the eye that has been haunting him and making him crazy about it.Another piece of evidence from “The Tell-Tale Heart” to show madness is, “For it was not the old man who vexed me, but his Evil Eye(3)”.
