Growing up, we were all taught the Ten Commandments, one of them being honor thy father and mother. In the story The Chest of Broken Glass this commandment was shown through a man and his three sons. As the man grew older and feeble, all of the sons started to care less about him. The one day the old man asked someone to make him a chest, and a lock. From another friend he gathered broken glass, in which he put into the chest. The sons started to assume that there was value in the chest, so they each started seeing their father more. The sons begin to spend more time with him because in the end they knew that they would inherit what was in the chest.
