Although the two books The Tequila Worm by Viola Canales and Gabi A Girl in Pieces by Isabel Quintero are about young girls narrating their lives, they both live different lifestyles. One girl has a father that is always there for her, and the other has a father that isn’t always there for her. When comparing Sofia in the book The Tequila Worm and Gabi in the book Gabi A Girl in Pieces, they both seem to live different lives. Sofia has a father that is always there for her and guides her through her childhood. She has that guidance, love and support from him and as a result, has positively impacted her life. She follows a bright future and lives a happy life. In contrast, Gabi’s dad is absent throughout the majority of her life and has low self-esteem and self-doubt.
