The bloodiest war fought on American soil was the Civil War. There are three main causes of the Civil War: slavery, the election of Abraham Lincoln, and state’s rights.

The Union didn’t want slavery, but the Confederacy wanted slavery. The Confederate army was few in numbers compared to the Union. Some slaves even fought for the Union. The union was led by Abraham Lincoln whose intentions weren’t even to stop slavery. The confederacy was led by Jefferson Davis. Davis wanted slavery all over the United States.
