In the stories, “The Treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers and “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W Jacobs, the authors use dialogue to develop character. These stories both have a lot of dialogue and they both can describe a character in multiple ways. I believe the authors use word description and their past actions to describe the characters through dialogue.

In “The Treasure of lemon Brown” the author uses dialogue to show the characters past and the description. In the beginning of the story, Gregs dad says Greg can’t play basketball until Greg gets his grades up. This shows Greg’s character through dialogue by saying that Greg does not care for school and he slacks off. Lemon brown says that he used to be a amazing jazz player and that he traveled the country to play. This shows how dialogue shows a person’s past by dialogue be because it is saying that he played jazz down south. The text also says that Lemon traveled the country and people came with him.The story says that Lemon Lives in a small building where people try to rob him of is “treasure”. This

Now look at him.” This shows how the physical character of Major Morris has change in the Army over the last 20 years of the his life through dialogue. The story says, “He was the only one left to us.” This relates to character through dialogue by saying the White family had kids and now they are very sad because they don't have anymore that live with them.
