Technology has advanced in so many ways over time, some things bad and some things good. In “The Veldt” we see an example of a house that is technologically advanced. In “GMO Crops Don’t Harm Human Health” we see technology grow in the Agricultural field. Both benefits and detriments of technological advances can be seen in both “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury and “GMO Crops Don’t Harm Human Health.”
“The Veldt” shows how technology can be a good thing, but also can be a very bad thing. One example of a benefit of a house that basically does everything for you is that if you have a very busy schedule then you wouldn’t have to worry about coming home to cook and clean. One example is how the family didn’t get very much family time because the children were always in the nursery. Also with all the technology it would be easy to get caught up in it and forget to really live your life. In the story Peter says “That sounds dreadful! Would I have to tie my own shoes instead of letting the shoe tier do it? And brush my own teeth and comb my hair and give myself a bath?” (Bradburry) which really shows how dependent they really are. The main thing that people will notice about the story is how the nursery is basically a psychopath generator.
The article “GMO Crops Don’t Harm Human Health” shows a lot of good points on how GMO’s are a good thing. In the article it states that GMOs help farmers, including small scale, thrive by providing a bigger yield (Worland). Farmers make money based on how much food they grow so if they have a bigger yield in the end they will make more money. GMOs resist pesticides and other harmful things such as harsh weather so the crops will be more likely to survive through damaging
