In The Good Earth, O-lan is a very strong lady who works hard to provide for her family. While O-lan is pregnant she was in the fields working right to the time she had her baby. Another reason why O-lan is brave and a strong lady is because she keeps to herself by staying in the background but she also continues to work hard sometimes harder than the men. O-lan is a very quiet woman but when she does talk she tells of what happened to her in the big house hoping they believe her and allow her protect her children.
