Life, it’s the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death. In life, death is inevitable, it can’t be avoided and definitely ran away from. But when death comes upon the people in which we love, it is hard to bear. Sorrow...Misery...Despair; these are the feelings in which could be felt. Throughout this literary analysis task, there were two excerpts that were given. Voyage of the Frog By Gary Paulsen and Father by Gary Soto. Within each text, it showed each main character losing someone who important to them whether it be 14 year old David from the Voyage of the Frog losing his uncle Owen or in Father by Gary …show more content…
This story as well shows the main character(no name given within story) going through an incident which indeed shows the thoughts and the actions of the main character demonstrating the trait in which the main character possesses. Now this story is based on the main character experiencing the death of their father. A thought throughout the story which was expressed was this, “I remember looking up but saying nothing, though I sensed what had happened—that Father was dead. I did not feel sorrow nor did I cry, but I felt conspicuous because relatives were pressing me against their legs or holding my hand or touching my head, tenderly.” This piece of text evidence explains the reaction he had at his father funeral. The main character expressed no emotion especially the emotion of sorrow to his father. Because of this, it could be believed that the main character was relatively youn due to the fact that he did cry or mourn for the death of his father. The main character did not grasp or understand the feeling of death and what it can cause to the people around. This would prove the point that he was probably young. An action that can be seen througout the story in which could show another personality trait of is this, “Later that day at the house, Grandma could not stop shaking from her nerves, so a doctor was called. David from the Voyage of the Frog displayed a reflective personality due to the fact that this excerpt is based on the reflections on which David reflects on his memory of the death of his precious uncle Owen. On the other hand, the main character of the excerpt Father conveyed “blind” personality traits. What is meant by this statement is that he “blind” due to the fact that he does not cry on his father’s funeral. This could point to the fact that he may be young as well. With that said, overall these texts put both of these character various situation which reveal many aspects of these characters
