Source A is a speech made at the Yalta conference by the leader of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin in 1945. The source describes how Stalin felt about the alliance of “three Great Powers” the UK, USA and the USSR, further on Stalin goes on to say “may we be as frank as possible”. Stalin says these words at the end of his speech “may we be as frank as possible”, I believe that this is quite contradictive, because the USA and the UK had different ideologies compared to the USSR, for example the both countries opposed each other’s political and economic views. So therefore I think that the source is not precisely accurate as possible.
The word “frank” is used towards the end of the source and frank is normally associated with things like being; open, honest and direct to the point. The source is minutes taken at a dinner at the Yalta conference in 1945 and since it is a dinner, so Stalin wishes to make a good impression and he wants everyone to get along. He does this by complimenting the USA and the UK when he says “I know of no such close alliance of the three Great Powers as this…”. This also suggests that the source is not as accurate as it should be, in my opinion.
Overall the Yalta conference in my opinion was a success but also a failure. The reasons I think that the conference was a success is because the allies agreed to establish a post war world organization and let free election be held in all countries under soviet control. However it was also a failure
