Response #3 I am still trying to understand why that day was picked for all the sacrifice, but I guess God felt that he had to pick a one day for the people to follow. Everyday should be about forgiveness, but maybe God used this day to help people to stop and think about the gifts in their lives. The sacrifices made where great for that time because the people probably could have used the meat for food that was being burned at the altar. I wondered why just the high priest was involved in the sacrifices and not all the priest. Today the Yom Kippur is a very strict and followed day by many Jews for prayers, and they prepare for ten days. The Christians celebrate this day as the death of Jesus. This means we feel our sins have already been forgiven by Jesus giving the ultimate sacrifice. It seems the Jews are still trying to gain forgiveness from God still for all their sins in the past.
