In Shakespeare’s intriguing, classic play Julius Caesar, the only main character that does not appear to be crookedly corrupt is Brutus, , who is the honorable Roman politician that seems most likely to be the hero of the story. While many of the other diverse characters are embroiled in nefarious plans, ulterior motives, or selfish morals, Brutus attempts to stay out of the moral games being played by not bluntly stating all of his thoughts regarding the election of Caesar as king. His abstention from voicing his complex opinions is displayed when Cassius tries to convince him to openly join him in taking action against Caesar: “I love the name of honor more than I fear death.” (1.2.88-9).
