The overall theme Shakespeare is trying to convey in Hamlet is that the desire for revenge leads to ultimate destruction. In the end of the play, everyone dies. Almost everyone's death as a result of an act of revenge. Some examples of this are that, Polonius death was a result of hamlet thinking Polonius' was Claudius, the king, and accidentally killing him. Another example is when Ophelia's suicide was a repercussion of this act that Hamlet performed, that stemmed from revenge. In one part of the play The king, Claudius, ordered Hamlet to be killed among his arrival to England. Using some manipulation, Hamlet was able to have his two childhood friends killed instead of him.
