As Haruki Murakami said “Closing your eyes isn't going to change anything. Nothing's going to disappear just because you can't see what's going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That's the kind of world we live in.” In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, escapism is prominent throughout the book. It is seen through all three parts, and shows how the human mind cannot cope through some of the struggles life gives us.This is how escapism shows. In Fahrenheit 451, escapism can cause us to lose ourselves, make us irrational, and makes us run from life. That is why, we should overcome thoughts of escapism. When we try to escape, we lose ourselves. In Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the loss of one's self due to escapism is prominent throughout the book. Bradbury describes it perfectly with the quote “And if it was not the three walls soon to be four walls and the dream complete, then it was the open car and Mildred driving a hundred miles across town...when she stepped out of the car, she had seashells stuffed in her ears”(Bradbury 29).
