There is no future for someone who lives in the past. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is written from the point of view of the narrator, Nick Carraway. The novel revolves around the life of Jay Gatsby whose only dream is to unite with his first love Daisy Buchanan. However, Daisy marries Tom Buchanan and has a daughter with him named Pam Buchanan while Gatsby is away at war. Yet, Gatsby does not give up and his determination eventually brings himself to his ultimate demise. Gatsby’s death is the fault of his own due to the fact that he wants to protect Daisy and choose not to run away.
